John Calvin was born in Noyon, France on July 10th 1509. At fourteen he was sent to Paris to study theology, and developed an interest in the writings of Augustine. Calvin was able to receive his Master’s degree at the age of 19. His father then insisted that he take up law instead, wanting his son to follow in his footsteps. But he returned to theology when his father died. Similar occurrences are still a global issue, especially in strict traditional households.
